The kickoff meeting for the feasibility study of the Les Aghlabides Medical City project in Kairouan took place on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at the Faculty of Medicine in Tunis, attended by the Minister of Health and numerous institutional representatives.
This study, commissioned to SCET-TUNISIE, will last approximately six months. The project, jointly led by the Ministry of Public Works and Housing and the Ministry of Health, represents a strategic step for the development of the healthcare sector in inland regions.
The goal is to design an integrated, multidimensional urban project with a broad impact, aimed at establishing, in the heart of the country, a medical complex bringing together public and private healthcare facilities across all specialties. The project is grounded in the principles of sustainable development, cutting-edge technology, and synergies among stakeholders in healthcare, research, and education.
Highlights of the meeting:
- Official opening by the Minister of Health, who outlined the context and challenges of this ambitious project, followed by a direct exchange with the audience during a question-and-answer session
- A presentation by Mr. Riadh HENTATI, President and CEO of the Aghlabides Medical City in Kairouan, who highlighted the institution’s leading role in the project’s success and its strong local roots
- A detailed presentation of the study’s objectives, methodology, and timeline, delivered by the teams from SCET-TUNISIE and JADE ADVISORY
- Thematic breakout sessions provided an opportunity to gather the perspectives, ideas, and concerns of stakeholders from various ministries, institutions, and organizations involved in the project
This rich and unifying exchange laid the groundwork for constructive dialogue and collaborative work, which are essential to ensuring the success of this initiative that holds great promise for the Tunisian healthcare system and for the Kairouan region in particular.
